We were engaged to design and develop a proof-of-concept solution to manage the receipt, assessment and decision making processes for applications to use land which may have Aboriginal Heritage significance.
Project Overview
Velrada were engaged by DIA and Microsoft to design and develop a proof-of-concept solution to manage the receipt, assessment and decision making processes for applications to use land which may have Aboriginal Heritage significance. A unified solutions platform comprising Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 were used as a base for the tightly bound case and document management.
Client Requirements
The solution aims to support the development key components of DIA's Digital strategy. This project needed to focus on addressing the agencies current difficulties in locating accurate information, tracking communication and using multiple data entry points which were inherent within the DIA process. The solution should enable DIA to trial new methods to improve communication between DIA and stakeholders, increasing staff efficiency and supporting people by reducing burden, releasing valuable resources to focus on delivery of improved services to stakeholders.
Our Solution
- Engage with the business areas to define the Business Requirements, agree the Functional Design and Solution Architecture for a Land Use Application management System, based upon a unified MS CRM 2011 and SharePoint 2010 platform
- Used an Agile development approach to implemented and configured MS CRM 2011 and SharePoint 2010 for application/case management
- Integrated SharePoint 2010 to TRIM eDRMS and automated TRIM processes
- Integrated CRM to legacy business systems and to Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) using MS Silverlight software
- Used CRM workflow to manage all application assessment processes
- Built an web interface to CRM to support e-lodgement of applications and proponent status inquiries

- Established a systemised enforceable and measurable business process
- Tracked all application processing and team performance metrics
- Eliminated or automated paper / document based processes
- Reduced internal application processing times
- Reduced costs for internal document based processes including generation and distribution to state wide stakeholders
