Why did you decide to join Velrada?

For me it was a bit of a process; when I was first approached in the UK, I'd never heard of Velrada or even considered working in Perth, but I figured I'd go along with the interviews to see how it went. The more people I spoke to, however, the more I felt that something really interesting was on the cards. At each stage of the interview process I met great people, with impressive plans and by the time I was offered the job it was a bit of a no brainer.

It may sound clichéd but it really was the people which lead to me making the trip over with nothing more than a back pack… oh and the weather's pretty glorious to!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Two things spring to mind; the first is the challenge and the second is the people.

I love being able to test myself every day against big, complex problems and the clients and projects on the go here at Velrada certainly provide ample opportunities to get stuck in. What makes the challenge even more enjoyable though is collaborating on those problems with a team of with likeminded, talented individuals; and once again Velrada delivers these in spades.

There's always a new viewpoint, opinion or insight to consider and you really can learn something new every day.

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on the implementation of a Remote Operations centre for a major Australian Gold Miner. With a vision to enable control of Australian and international mining operations from a multi-million dollar facility in Australia, this really is a project with a few challenges.

Here at Velrada we're ensuring all appropriate planning and design work is undertaken to make this project a success, including all enabling technology and communications (video walls, immersive VC and specialist console design amongst others,) as well as understanding and planning for the organisational impacts on the business.
